Introduction to Orthopedic Cupping | Sept. 12 (Thursday)

'What the cup!' is a fresh introduction into the world of cupping massage from an orthopedic perspective. Students will easily learn the basics of cupping therapy including techniques for specific orthopedic conditions, the super powers of different cups, choosing the right cup for the job, the science behind cupping and injury, documentation, safety, and much more.

Advanced Techniques - Neuromuscular Cupping | Sept. 13 (Friday)

This highly anticipated sequel to the introductory Orthopedic class, What the Cup 2, pulls out all the stops! With advanced techniques and topics like peripheral nerve impingement, carpal tunnel syndrome, and sciatica this course is sure to propel your cupping skills to new heights!

Take the principles you learned in What the Cup 1 - Orthopedic Cupping, and use them to quickly and easily treat neuromuscular conditions.

    Provided to students:

    • A variety of silicone cupping sets will be provided for all students to use.
    • 40-page class manual
    • Massage tables
    • Sanitizing and cleaning supplies
    • Silicone cup sets will be available for purchase after class from instructor.

    What to bring:
    To allow full participation in clinical labs please bring the following:

    Table linens, towels, lotions/creams and dress in comfortable, loose clothing (i.e. t-shirts, shorts, tank tops, athletic pants, etc.).

    Dr Joi Edwards DPT, LMT

    Dr. Joi is both a licensed massage therapist and a licensed physical therapist successfully fusing the science of orthopedics with the art and intuition of massage, bridging both worlds together with the magic of silicone cups. Her down to earth and laid back teaching style make learning easy and fun.

    She holds a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation, a doctorate degree in physical therapy, and has held specialization in orthopedic manual therapy. She has extensive experience in the orthopedic field with both injuries and surgical conditions. Dr. Joi works full-time as a physical therapist, owns her own continuing education company, Owlchemy Education, in Raleigh, NC.
