This class is not teaching Traditional Thai Massage. Acupressure, energetics, energy pathways or meridians will not be covered. Ryan Sullivan is excited to share his adaptation of specific Thai Massage techniques (passive stretches, joint mobilization, compression and traction), complimenting our standard table-based massage therapy. All techniques in this class are within the Scope of Practice and Definition of Massage Therapy in the GA Board of Massage Therapy Rules and GA law.
Thai Style Mat Massage
Expand your massage practice beyond the limits of a massage table.
Provide your clients the space to relax in a big way, arms outstretched, body supported, with the freedom of being fully comfortable.
Use leverage and body mechanics in ways you’ve never thought possible, saving your hands and wrists from strain, and enjoying the benefit of full-body movements, yourself.
Working on a cushioned mat at ground level, you will observe, practice, and experience sequences of passive stretching, compressions and joint mobilizations, utilizing both your hands and feet. Ryan will watch closely to ensure you learn healthy body mechanics and assist with any limitations you may encounter.
While this is not a Traditional Thai Massage class, we borrow and adapt what Thai Massage is most renowned for, its elegant flow and sophisticated stretches. It is truly unlike most other massage styles, complimenting our table work in ways our clients will certainly appreciate.
The therapeutic results are second to none and can be accomplished with clients fully clothed.
Learning to work effectively without a massage table opens new possibilities to offer quality massage sessions any environment, with confidence. And, without the burden of carrying your massage table!
This class will focus on full-body treatment in supine, prone, and side lying positions.
The majority of class time (80%) is dedicated to hands-on practice, giving and receiving massage. You walk away feeling refreshed, inspired, and confident to integrate this work into your practice the moment you leave.
Your instructor, Ryan Sullivan, has been practicing Thai Massage since 2009, and has dedicated himself to continuous and deep study of massage and bodywork. He has studied with many teachers and styles, and finds joy in integrating ancient style into modern practices. Thai Massage is effective no matter where you work, whether a spa, in clients' homes, or anywhere in between.

Please bring and wear:
- Comfortable clothes that allows for unrestricted movement
- Yoga mat
- Flat sheet, twin size or larger
- Pillow

Ryan Sullivan
Ryan Sullivan, LMT, teaches board-approved CE Classes, approved NCBTMB provider #1476.
Ryan studied cupping with Bruce Bentley, widely regarded as the world’s foremost expert on cupping. He studied Thai Massage with Ariela Grodner, founder of Bodhi Shanga School of Thai Massage. Ryan received his Reiki mastership from Toni Walmsley in the Usui Ryoho tradition. He has studied Active Isolated Stretching with Aaron Mattes, creator of the system. Karin Sorvik instructed Ryan in Chi Nei Tsang. Ryan also studied Tuning Fork Therapy with Fabien Maman, the founding father of vibrational sound therapy. Ryan has studied with many other teachers, and continues to seek high-level training in pursuit of life-long learning.
As an instructor and guest instructor at various Florida massage schools Ryan has influenced many aspiring therapists.
In his Tallahassee, Florida office, Ryan practices diverse healing modalities including Cupping, Thai Massage, Reiki and Active Isolated Stretching.
